Waterton Lakes National Park Golf Course
Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta
The original design by William Thomson, the professional at the original Banff Springs 9 hole course, was a nine hole course laid out in 1921 and opened for play on July 1, 1922. Stanley Thompson was asked to visit following his participation in the Canadian men's Amateur at Jasper in 1929, to advise on expansion to 18 holes. The Thompson course opened for play in 1932 and was visited regularly by him up to his death in early 1953 but he did little site supervising during this period. He advised on turf and related issues and minor course changes.
