Education
One of the fundemental aims of the Stanley Thompson Society in preserving the Thompson legacy is to provide educational opportunities to interested golfers, Club members and industry personnel. Seminars and publications form part of this platform as does the 'public' archiving of plans, notes and documents at the University of Guelph.
In 2008 a collaborative initiative between the Stanley Thompson Society and the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame/Royal Canadian Golf Association launched a series of periodic seminars and panel discussions pertaining to classic and heritage golf courses, including those designed by Stanley Thompson. Focus areas were design preservation, environment, turf management, modern-day championship golf, Master Planning, etc. This ambitious undertaking is scheduled to continue in future years. Further information, updates on schedule and subject matter will be posted on the website in the News section as well as circulated through STS e-Flashes and Dormie.
