STS 'Provenance' Study

Phase I

A current initiative, one fundamental to the Society and Thompson clubs is the authentication of true Thompson facilities. This  'provenance' study program is being achieved through a scholarship and research funding grant to University of Guelph. Graduate student and CPGA member Kirsten Brown plus faculty expert in the field Dr. Cecelia Paine are  researching purported Thompson golf courses in Canada and those where consultation, remodelling etc. may have taken place.  Anticipated conclusion 2010.

Phase II Establishment of Thompson Course Classification Criteria ~ Presently in progress Ms. Brown and Dr. Paine are developing classification and assessment models for Thompson courses as per initial design, modifications over time & current status.

Phase III  Evaluation of Current Course Status ~ to follow completion of Phase II as resources and funding are available.
